Ginseng is an herb native to China, where it has a thousand-year tradition of use. It was first discovered in the mountains of Manchuria, which is currently (along with some places in North Korea) the last place where we could still find wild ginseng. With growing fame, it was gradually mined for the great demand from the wild. In the twentieth century, it began to be grown commercially, especially in Korea.
Le ginseng est une herbe originaire de Chine, ou il a une tradition d’utilisation millenaire. Il a d’abord ete decouvert dans les montagnes de Mandchourie, qui est actuellement (avec certains endroits en Coree du Nord) le dernier endroit ou l’on pouvait encore trouver du ginseng sauvage. Avec une renommee croissante, il a ete progressivement exploite pour la grande demande de la nature. Au XXe siecle, il a commence a etre cultive commercialement, en particulier en Coree.
Zensen je bylinou puvodem z Ciny, kde ma tisiciletou tradici uzivani. Objeven byl prvne v horach Mandzuska, coz je v soucasnosti (spolecne s nekterymi misty Severni Koreje) posledni misto, kde bychom volne rostouci zensen jeste nalezli. S rostoucim vehlasem byl pro velkou poptavku z volne prirody postupne vytezen. Ve dvacatem stoleti se zacal jiz komercne pestovat, predevsim v Koreji.
