Antidiarrheal with fast and long-lasting effect

The active ingredient loperamide in Lopedium® akut takes effect in the intestine. There it inhibits propulsive peristalsis, which means that the stool is held in the intestine for longer. In addition, loperamide causes muscle contraction of the anal sphincter in the rectum area. Loperamide has a fast and long-lasting effect and is therefore particularly suitable for watery stools.

Application and intake of Lopedium® akut

Take the hard capsules whole with plenty of liquid (e.g. with a glass of water). At the beginning of treatment for acute diarrhea, take the first dose. Then, the repeat dose should be taken after each loose stool. The recommended maximum daily dose must not be exceeded. Lopedium akut is not suitable for children under 12 years of age due to the high active ingredient content. Other dosage forms are available for this purpose on prescription. Do not take Lopedium akut for longer than 2 days without medical advice. If diarrhea persists after 2 days of treatment with Lopedium akut, Lopedium akut must be discontinued and a doctor consulted. Treatment with medicines containing loperamide for longer than 2 days may only be carried out on medical prescription and with ongoing observation.
