Zovirax cream is a medicine used to treat cold sores on the lips and face. It contains aciclovir, an antiviral medicine that can destroy the virus that causes cold sores. Clinical studies have shown that early treatment with this medicine stops the formation of herpes. If herpes has already appeared, treatment with this medicine will speed up its healing. It is usually given five times a day at approximately four-hour intervals.
