Ginseng is an herb native to China, where it has a thousand-year tradition of use. It was first discovered in the mountains of Manchuria, which is currently (along with some places in North Korea) the last place where we could still find wild ginseng. Zensen je bylinou puvodem z Ciny, kde ma tisiciletou tradici uzivani. Objeven byl prvne v horach Mandzuska, coz je v soucasnosti (spolecne s nekterymi misty Severni Koreje) posledni misto, kde bychom volne rostouci zensen jeste nalezli. S rostoucim vehlasem byl pro velkou poptavku z volne prirody postupne vytezen. Ve dvacatem stoleti se zacal jiz komercne pestovat, predevsim v Koreji.
