Chuchuasi – Maytenus macrocarpa (“shaking back”) ground bark comes from the rainforests of the Amazon, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. The bark of the tree is extremely hard, reddish-brown in color. Chuchuhuasi is a source of alkaloids, catechins, saponins, quinones, organic acids and other substances.
