OraLife gel and mouthwash help in the treatment of oral mucositis, stomatitis and reddened, painful, swollen and / or dry mouth and throat mucosa caused by radiation therapy, chemotherapy or thermal stress.

Side effects in cancer therapy:
Cancer therapy aims to slow down or even stop the growth of the tumor. These treatment methods prevent the cells from dividing. This is especially bad for tumor cells that divide very quickly. But many healthy body cells also divide very often – these are mainly cells of the skin, the oral mucosa and the throat area. Especially in the mucous membrane, the mast cells are responsible for the extent of the side effects. These mast cells are cells of the immune system that are loosely distributed in all tissues – primarily in the oral mucosa and throat, i.e. the barriers that separate the organism from the outside world. If the tissue is irritated by a therapy (e.g. chemotherapy, radiation, immune and anti-hormone therapy), the mast cell releases messenger substances. These intensify the inflammatory reaction and increase the sensitivity of the affected skin areas. So-called mucositis develops.

OraLife Gel und Mundwasser helfen bei der Behandlung der oralen Mukositis, Stomatitis und von geröteter, schmerzender, geschwollener und/oder trockener Mund- und Rachenschleimhaut, bedingt durch Strahlentherapie, Chemotherapie oder thermischen Stress.

Nebenwirkungen in der Krebstherapie:
Die Therapie bei Krebserkrankungen zielt darauf ab, das Wachstum des Tumors zu bremsen oder gar zu stoppen. Dabei unterbinden diese Behandlungsmethoden die Fähigkeit der Zellen, sich zu teilen. Das ist besonders schlecht für Tumorzellen, die sich sehr schnell teilen. Aber auch viele gesunde Körperzellen teilen sich sehr häufig – das sind vor allem Zellen der Haut, der Mundschleimhaut und des Rachenbereichs. Besonders in der Schleimhaut sind die Mastzellen für das Ausmaß der Nebenwirkungen verantwortlich. Diese Mastzellen sind Zellen des Abwehrsystems, die lose in allen Geweben verteilt sind – vorrangig in der Mundschleimhaut und im Rachen, also den Barrieren, die den Organismus von der Außenwelt trennen. Wird durch eine Therapie (bspw. Chemo-, Strahlen-, Immun- und Antihormontherapie) das Gewebe gereizt, gibt die Mastzelle Botenstoffe frei. Diese verstärken die Entzündungsreaktion und erhöhen die Empfindlichkeit der betroffenen Hautareale. Es entsteht eine sogenannte Mukositis.
