White mulberry (Morus alba) is a medium-tall, fast-growing tree. Its fruits are known – mulberries, which are used in cakes or to make wine. However, white mulberry leaves, which originate in northern China, are used for medical purposes. Mulberry is mainly known as a tree on which silkworms are grown, from whose larvae silk is obtained. Outside China, more species of mulberry grow, which have fruits colored up to dark purple, which are more suitable for culinary use, but most of the content of medicinal substances can be found only in white mulberry leaves.

White mulberry leaves have been used since ancient times in traditional Chinese medicine. The first mention of their healing effects can be found in the oldest Chinese book of remedies “Huang Di Ba Shi Yi Nan Jing”, which deals with Chinese medical practice and is still used as a “bible” of herbal medicine. In traditional Chinese medicine, mulberry is used as a cooling herb to remove toxins and excessive “heat” from the body.

Moruse bila (Morus alba) je stredne vysoky, rychle rostouci strom. Zname jsou jeho plody – moruse, ktere se vyuzivaji do kolacu ci k vyrobe vina. K lekarskym ucelum se ale pouzivaji listy moruse bile, ktera je puvodem ze severni Ciny. Moruse je predevsim znama jako strom, na kterem se pestuje bourec morusovy, z jehoz larev se ziskava hedvabi. Mimo Cinu roste vice druhu moruse, ktere maji plody zabarvene az do tmave fialove barvy, ktere jsou vhodnejsi ke kulinarskemu vyuziti, avsak nejvice obsahu lecivych latek najdeme pouze v listech moruse bile.

Listy moruse bile byly vyuzivany od staroveku v tradicni cinske medicine. Prvni zminky o jejich lecivych ucincich nalezneme v nejstarsi cinske knize opravnych prostredku “Huang Di Ba Shi Yi Nan Jing”, ktera se venuje cinske lekarske praxi a dodnes je pouzivana jako „bible“ bylinne mediciny. V ramci tradicni cinske mediciny se moruse pouziva jako chladici bylina, ktera slouzi k odstraneni toxinu a nadmerneho „horka“ z tela.
