Properties of Centella CYTOLNAT cream
Centella asiatica has been used for more than 3000 years in traditional Chinese, Malaysian and Indian medicine as a wound healing agent, but also for the treatment of skin diseases. In Europe, it was from the 19th century that Centella asiatica began to interest researchers. In 1852, Boileau, a French doctor from Mauritius and then Hunter in 1855 in hospitals in Madras, used it in the treatment of leprosy.
Centella asiatica was also used as a wound healing agent in the treatment of varicose ulcers, burns and bedsores. The first dry extraction was only produced in 1941, 3 years before P. Boiteau isolated its active ingredients. Advances in chemistry have enabled the production of titrated extract (TECA) of centella asiatica containing 60% asiatic and madecassic acid and 40% asiaticoside which are used in topical preparations at concentrations between 0.1 and 1%.

The action of Cytolnat Centella is based on the synergy between its galenic “oil-in-water emulsion” with moisturizing, emollient and film-forming properties promoting scab-free healing and the pharmacological properties of the titrated extract of Centella asiatica.

Le Centella asiatica est utilisé depuis plus de 3000 ans en médecine traditionnelle chinoise, malaisienne et indienne comme cicatrisant, mais également pour le traitement des maladies cutanées. En Europe, c’est partir du 19ème siècle que le Centella asiatica a commencé à intéresser les chercheurs. En 1852, Boileau, médecin français de l’île Maurice puis Hunter en 1855 dans les hôpitaux de Madras, l’utilisèrent dans le traitement de la lèpre.
Le Centella asiatica était aussi utilisé comme cicatrisant dans les traitements des ulcères variqueux, des brûlures et des escarres. La première extraction sèche a seulement été produite en 1941, 3 années avant que P. Boiteau isole ses principes actifs. Les progrès de la chimie ont permis la réalisation d’extrait titré (TECA) de centella asiatica contenant 60 % d’acide asiatique et madécassique et 40 % d’asiaticoside qui sont utilisés dans les préparations topiques à des concentrations comprises entre 0,1 et 1%.
