Making changes to your diet is a great first step to solving the problem of dry skin. Here are a few products that negatively affect it.
Alcohol. It acts as a diuretic in the body, that is, it removes fluid. This can lead to dehydration and drying of the skin. In addition, alcohol can make fine lines and wrinkles more pronounced.
Salty foods. Another reason for dry skin. When you eat too much salt, the body pulls more fluid out of the cells to neutralize the salt. As a result, due to the lack of fluid in the body, the skin becomes drier. With a salty diet, don’t forget to also drink plenty of water to restore balance.
Sugar. Excess sugar in the bloodstream can cause” cross-linking ” of collagen, which will cause stiffness and loss of elasticity of the skin. Since it consists of collagen, a lack of this protein in the diet can lead to loss of shape and elasticity. Sugar can also weaken and dry the skin.
Refined carbohydrates. Processed carbohydrates such as white rice, bread, and pasta can damage the collagen in the skin in the same way as sugar. Loss of collagen makes the skin more prone to wrinkles and increased exposure to gravity (sagging skin).
Foods high in vitamin A. Excessive amounts of vitamin A can cause dry skin, hair loss, cracked lips, weak bones, headaches, and more. Foods that are good sources of vitamin A include fish liver oil, liver, egg yolks, butter, cream, and fortified milk. You can avoid taking vitamin a supplements, but consult your doctor first.
Coffee. Like alcohol, coffee can dehydrate the skin by constricting blood vessels, which affects the flow of fluid to the skin. Coffee is particularly bad for the eye area. It’s even worse if you drink coffee on an empty stomach
