STREP A’LERT, throat swab test for bacterial angina, 1 set

The STREP A’LERT test is a specific immunoassay for the detection of group A streptococcus in a throat infection. It helps you quickly find out if a sore throat is caused by streptococci or other pathogens (usually viruses) that do not require antibiotic treatment. Group A streptococci is responsible for more than 95% of strep throat (bacterial infections of the throat and tonsils). Bacterial angina and viral infection can produce similar symptoms. Taking a swab from the throat allows for the diagnosis of infection and thus determines the effectiveness of the therapy. The test is also used to rule out strep throat.

Pomaga szybko dowiedzieć się, czy ból gardła jest spowodowany przez paciorkowce, czy inne patogeny (zazwyczaj wirusy), które nie wymagają leczenia antybiotykami.Paciorkowce grupy A są odpowiedzialne za ponad 95% przypadków anginy (infekcji gardła i migdałków o podłożu bakteryjnym). Angina bakteryjna i infekcja wirusowa mogą dawać podobne objawy. Wykonanie wymazu z gardła umożliwia rozpoznanie infekcji i tym samym determinuje skuteczność terapii. Test stosowany jest również w celu wykluczenia anginy.
