Liquid paraffin (Paraffinum liquidum) is a laxative and when applied to the skin, it lubricates it. The drug softens the stool masses, facilitating defecation, but does not irritate the intestines.
The active substance of the drug is liquid paraffin (Paraffinum liquidum).
1 g of the liquid contains 1 g of liquid paraffin.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The drug can be used orally or on the skin, depending on the therapeutic indication. In the elderly, the administration of the drug should be limited to
situations that are really necessary, using the minimum effective doses, as short as possible (2-3 weeks).
Externally, liquid paraffin is used in children and adults in a small amount by rubbing it on the skin, as needed.
The usual dose of liquid paraffin for adults when taken orally is 10 to 30 ml (1 or 2 tablespoons). The laxative effect appears 6 to 10 hours after applying the liquid.
Action
Paraffin liquid after oral administration reduces water absorption and coats the intestinal mucosa, thanks to which the faecal masses are softened, facilitating defecation. Liquid paraffin is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and does not irritate the intestines. The laxative effect occurs a few hours after application.

Zewnętrznie Parafinę ciekłą stosuje się u dzieci oraz dorosłych w niewielkiej ilości nacierając nią skórę, stosowanie do potrzeb.
Zwykle stosowana dawka Parafiny ciekłej dla dorosłych przy podaniu doustnym to 10 do 30 ml (1 lub 2 łyżki stołowe). Działanie przeczyszczające pojawia się po 6 do 10 godzin od zastosowania płynu.
Działanie
Lek Parafina ciekła po podaniu doustnym zmniejsza wchłanianie wody oraz powleka błonę śluzową jelit, dzięki czemu masy kałowe zostają rozmiękczone, ułatwiając wypróżnianie. Parafina ciekła nie wchłania się z przewodu pokarmowego i nie drażni jelit. Efekt przeczyszczający występuje po kilku godzinach od zastosowania.
