Glycerol Carlo Erba is a laxative medicine based on Glycerol.

Therapeutic indications
Glycerol, the active ingredient of this medicine, is used to facilitate the elimination of faeces. The laxative effect is obtained thanks to the ability of glycerol to soften the stool and to cause a slight local irritant action that stimulates bowel movements. This medicine is indicated for the symptomatic relief of occasional and transient constipation. Contact your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a short period of treatment.

Dosage and Posology
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist. The correct dose is the minimum sufficient to produce easy evacuation of soft faeces. It is advisable to initially use the minimum doses provided. Laxatives should be used as infrequently as possible and for no more than 7 days. A diet rich in liquids favors the effect of the medicine.

Adults and adolescents (12-18 years): one single-dose adult container as needed, for a maximum of 1 or 2 administrations per day.

How to use
To remove the safety cannula cover from the single-dose container, place your index finger and thumb on the round ring located above the bellows and, with the other hand, bend the cannula cover until it detaches from the body of the container.During the operation, never grab the bellows, otherwise the medicine would leak before use. It may be helpful to lubricate the cannula with a drop of the solution itself, before introducing it into the rectum and pressing the bellows. Remove the cannula while pressing the bellows. Each container must be used for one administration only; any remaining medicine must be discarded.

In children under the age of twelve, the medicine can only be used after consulting your doctor. Laxatives should be used as infrequently as possible and for no more than seven days. A diet rich in liquids favors the effect of the medicine.

Modalità d’uso
Per togliere il copricannula di sicurezza del contenitore monodose, appoggiare indice epollice sulla ghiera rotonda posta sopra iI soffietto e, con I’altra mano, piegare il copricannula finoa provocarne il distacco del corpo del contenitore Durante I’operazione, non afferrare mai ilsoffietto, altrimenti si verificherebbe la fuoriuscita del medicinale prima dell’utilizzo. Può essere utile lubrificare la cannula con una goccia della soluzione stessa, prima di introdurla nel retto e premere il soffietto. Estrarre la cannula tenendo premuto il soffietto. Ogni contenitore deve essere utilizzato per una sola somministrazione; eventuale medicinale residuo deve essere eliminato.

Nei bambini sotto i dodici anni iI medicinale può essere utilizzato solo dopo aver consultato ilmedico. I lassativi devono essere usati il meno frequentemente possibile e per non più di sette giorni. Una dieta ricca di liquidi favorisce l’effetto del medicinale.
