The book is based on archival documents and describes in detail the development of civil aviation from the establishment of the republic to the end of 1948. It deals with the development of the First Republic airlines of the Czechoslovak State Airlines and the Czechoslovak Airlines. He does not neglect other attempts. It will acquaint readers with the situation during the occupation and the activities of our transport pilots in the RAF. The greatest attention is paid to the development after the war. It describes the efforts of left-wing politicians to personalize the new airline, persecute former RAF members, and appoint incompetent people to senior positions. It acquaints readers with the aircraft used by both companies, including matriculations. It describes some accidents in detail. It introduces the operated connections of both companies and flight schedules. It gives an opportunity to get acquainted with personalities who have influenced civil air transport. It presents the management of companies and compares the management of public and private companies. It objectively shows the adverse effect of the interference of politicians and civil servants in the airline’s activities.

Kniha vychází z archivních dokumentů a podrobně popisuje vývoj civilního dopravního letectví od vzniku republiky do konce roku 1948. Zabývá se vývojem prvorepublikových leteckých společností Československých státních aerolinií a Československé letecké společnosti. Neopomíjí ani jiné pokusy. Seznámí čtenáře se situací v době okupace a činností našich dopravních pilotů ve službách RAF. Největší pozornost je věnována vývoji po skončení války. Popisuje snahu levicově orientovaných politiků na personalizaci nové letecké společnosti, perzekuci bývalých příslušníků RAF a dosazování nekompetentních lidí do vedoucích funkcí. Seznamuje čtenáře s používanými letadly obou společností včetně imatrikulací. Podrobně popisuje některé havárie. Seznamuje s provozovanými spoji obou společností a letovými řády. Dává příležitost seznámit se s osobnostmi, které měly vliv na civilní leteckou dopravu. Představuje hospodaření společností a srovnává hospodaření státní a soukromé společnosti. Objektivně ukazuje neblahý vliv zasahování politiků a státních úředníků do činnosti letecké společnosti.
