Compound
The active ingredient is doxylamine hydrosuccinate (Doxylamini Hydrogenosuccinas).
1 tablet contains 12.5 mg of doxylamine hydrosuccinate.
Excipients: mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose (RN-101), sodium carboxymethyl starch (type A), colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate. The OPADRY 02B24028 coating consists of: hypromellose 5 mPas, titanium dioxide (E171), macrogol 400, erythrosine, aluminum varnish (E127), red iron oxide (E172), indigo carmine, aluminum varnish (E132).
Dosage
Always use this medication exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Adults (18 years and older): The recommended starting dose is 12.5 mg 30 minutes before bedtime.
The dose may be increased to 25 mg if the initial dose does not provide sufficient relief of insomnia symptoms.
The maximum daily dose should not exceed 25 mg (2 tablets) per day.
If you feel sleepy during the day, it is recommended to leave at least 8 hours between taking the drug and waking up, or if you are taking a 25 mg dose, reduce the next dose to 12.5 mg (1 tablet).
The drug should not be used for more than 7 days without consulting a doctor.
Action
The active ingredient Senamin is an antihistamine with sedative and hypnotic effects.
Indications
The drug is used for short-term symptomatic treatment of sporadic insomnia in adults, especially in cases of difficulty falling asleep, frequent awakenings at night, early morning awakenings associated with stress or jet lag.
Contraindications
Do not use the drug if you are hypersensitive to doxylamine or any of the other ingredients of the drug or other antihistamines. Use is contraindicated if the patient suffers from: asthma, chronic bronchitis (persistent cough accompanied by expectoration of secretions and mucus) or emphysema (difficulty breathing); glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye); prostatic hyperplasia; difficulty draining urine from the bladder; narrowing of the gastrointestinal tract due to peptic ulcer or pyloroduodenal stenosis; serious problems with the kidneys and liver.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
Side effects caused by doxylamine are usually mild and transient and are more likely to occur during the first few days of treatment.
Very common side effects (more than 1 in 10 people): drowsiness.
Common side effects (less than 1 in 10 people): blurred vision, dizziness, increased secretion of mucus in the bronchi, dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention, insomnia, agitation, dizziness, headache, upper abdominal pain, fatigue.
Uncommon side effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people): double vision, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure caused by changes in body position), nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rash, weakness (feeling tired), peripheral edema (arms and legs), nightmares, shortness of breath (shortness of breath), upset stomach, feeling relaxed.
Rare side effects (may affect less than 1 in 1,000 people): decreased red, white or platelet counts, restlessness (especially in older people), tremors, seizures.
Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from available data): general feeling unwell.”
