Battleship HT-3827B Bismarck, Cuirassé HT-3827B Bismarck

The Bismarck was a German battleship from World War II, named after the Reich Chancellor Bismarck. At one time it was one of the largest and most powerful battleships in the world. Its captain was Kapitän zur See Ernst Lindemann and Bismarck’s granddaughter Dorothea von Löwenfeld took over the role of godfather. In May 1941, he embarked on his first and last voyage to the Atlantic, during which the British battle cruiser HMS Hood sank on May 24. After several days of pursuit, he was severely damaged by Swordfish torpedo bombers from the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal and then sunk on May 27 after a battle with the battleships HMS Rodney, HMS King George V and other smaller vessels.

Le Bismarck était un cuirassé allemand de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, nommé d’après le chancelier du Reich Bismarck. À une certaine époque, c’était l’un des cuirassés les plus grands et les plus puissants du monde. Bismarck byla německá bitevní loď z druhé světové války, pojmenovaná po říšském kancléři Bismarckovi. Svého času byla jednou z největších a nejmocnějších bitevních lodí světa. Jejím kapitánem byl Kapitän zur See Ernst Lindemann a role kmotry se ujala Bismarckova vnučka Dorothea von Löwenfeld. V květnu 1941 se vydal na svoji první a poslední plavbu do Atlantiku, během níž 24. května potopil britský bitevní křižník HMS Hood. Po několikadenním pronásledování byl vážně poškozen torpédovými bombardéry Swordfish z letadlové lodě HMS Ark Royal a posléze potopen 27. května po souboji s bitevními loděmi HMS Rodney, HMS King George V a dalšími menšími plavidly.
