The liver-bile system is a central component of the digestive system and its functionality is an important prerequisite for smooth digestion. The liver also plays an important role as a metabolic organ. Substances from the intestine reach the liver via the blood and are used, stored, converted or broken down there. This includes nutrients on the one hand and alcohol, drugs and environmental toxins on the other.

Das Leber-Galle-System ist ein zentraler Bestandteil des Verdauungsapparates und dessen Funktionstuchtigkeit eine wichtige Voraussetzung fur eine reibungslose Verdauung. Weiterhin spielt die Leber als Stoffwechselorgan eine wichtige Rolle. Aus dem Darm gelangen Stoffe uber das Blut in die Leber und werden dort verwertet, gespeichert, umgewandelt oder abgebaut. Dazu gehoren einerseits Nahrstoffe und andererseits auch Alkohol, Medikamente oder Umweltgifte.
