WILD YAM STAR is a formula with a hairy tuber using its tuber dioscoreae villosa tuber, which acts on the proper functioning of the endocrine glands. It helps stabilize and normalize hormone levels in both women and men and slow down the aging process. It is a suitable supplement during the period of menopause, when it acts to alleviate the symptoms of menopausal problems such as headaches, hot flashes, irritability and fatigue. Dioscorea is a plant whose effect is important for achieving the optimal amount and balance of the female sex hormones estrogen and progesterone, which play an important role in a woman’s health. They contain substances (diosgenin), which have a similar structure to the steroid hormones estrogens and are therefore classified as phytoestrogens – substances that bind to estrogen receptors and thus disrupt the function of endogenous estrogens in the body. They favorably affect hormonal balance and progesterone synthesis.
Dioscorea has been used since the time of the Aztecs and Mayans for a wide range of healing effects. For its area of occurrence, it is often referred to as the Mexican yam. In addition to dioscin, dioscorea also contains a number of other substances, such as phytosterols, alkaloids and tannins.
