Paraffinum Liquidum – (liquid paraffin).

Dosage
15-45 g (1-3 tablespoons) at night and in the morning on an empty stomach. Use as directed by your doctor.
Action
When administered orally, the drug coats the intestinal wall with a thin layer, forms a suspension with the intestinal contents and facilitates its transfer to the lower parts of the digestive tract.
It inhibits the absorption of water in the lower sections of the large intestine and softens the fecal masses.
It is not absorbed and does not irritate the intestinal mucosa.
Indications
Laxative drug used in spastic and atonic constipation.
Contraindications
Do not use when there is:
Hypersensitivity to liquid paraffin.
Unexplained abdominal pain and acute inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, such as appendicitis.
The preparation should not be used in children under 3 years of age.
Use of other drugs
Inform your doctor about all medications you have recently taken, even those sold without a prescription.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Działanie
Lek podany doustnie pokrywa cienką warstwą ściany jelit, tworzy zawiesinę z treścią jelitową i ułatwia jej przesuwanie do niższych odcinków przewodu pokarmowego.
Hamuje wchłanianie wody w dolnych odcinkach jelita grubego i rozmiękcza masy kałowe.
Nie wchłania się i nie drażni śluzówki jelit.
Wskazania
Lek przeczyszczający stosowany w zaparciach spastycznych i atonicznych.
Przeciwwskazania
Nie należy stosować gdy występuje:
Nadwrażliwość na parafinę ciekłą.
Ból brzucha o nieustalonej przyczynie oraz ostre stany zapalne przewodu pokarmowego, np. zapalenie wyrostka robaczkowego.
Preparatu nie należy stosować u dzieci poniżej 3 roku życia.
Stosowanie innych leków
Należy poinformować lekarza o wszystkich przyjmowanych ostatnio lekach, nawet tych, które wydawane są bez recepty.
Ciąża i karmienie piersią
W okresie ciąży i karmienia piersią przed zastosowaniem należy się skonsultować z lekarzem.
Stosowanie leku u dzieci i młodzieży
Preparatu nie należy stosować u dzieci poniżej 3 roku życia.
